Chasing Noodles

Jammer, is al dat ek kan se. Jare gaan verby en nog, Worde kom nie maklik nie, Soos jammer, soos jammer. When we were younger, for some reason, we thought it would be fun to change Tracy Chapman's lyrics into Afrikaans. To this day, I find myself giggling as i sing along, in Afrikaans to one of the best songs ever writen by Tracy. It just doesn't get old. The stange thing is, no other song ever actually made it. They never sounded quite right.

You have heard it a million times, but all of a sudden, that song you have been listening to for ever, now suddenly means so much more. In fact, every song, come to think about it, is directed at you specifically. As the tears roll down, you sort of sob out the words that were once so meaninless, but now they pierce straight through your heart. Quite ridiculous really. You hear what you want to hear I guess.

Did you know there is such a thing as Multiple Personality Day. No? Neither did I. Turns out, it's celebrated or rather recognised on the 5th March. Fancy that!

On Monday, I turn twenty seven. That means on Monday, my best friend and I have been friends for twenty seven years. Tomorrow she leaves the country for a year. The funny part is that we haven't lived in the same town since we were eleven, and we are quite accustomed to goodbyes. This goodbye is different. This one is much harder. I'm going to miss her very much.
